A Love Letter to Salt Lake City
Dear Salt Lake City,
When we met 119 years ago, we were so young! We couldn’t have dreamed of what we’d both become. You became one of the most sought-after cities in the country, where people come from all over the world to live, work and dream. We became one of the finest Men’s clothing companies in the world where people from all over the world come to shop.
Together, we’ve weathered two worldwide pandemics, two world wars, the Great Depression, the Great Recession, and countless ups and downs, all of which have shaped who we have become. We have evolved from a single view of the world and life to a place of openness, acceptance, and diversity. We are not only survivors of the difficulties life throws our way, we have learned to adapt and thrive through the
inevitable changes that life has sent our way.
We have learned that sometimes life gives us lemons, and through the last 119 years we have consistently made lemonade. Whether it was the Olympic Scandals that our city turned into an Olympic triumph or Covid that shutdown Fine menswear overnight only to rebirth our best sales years ever in Menswear of 2022 and 2023, we consistently find the good in difficulty, own the reality, and create a brighter future.
It is in this spirit that we write this letter, we have been handed a lemon. Our landlord has deemed our building unsafe and though we disagree wholeheartedly, we recognize that sometimes the only move is forward, and sometimes the best avenue is a new avenue. After a 119-year love affair, it is time to move to Murray City to create another 100 years of doing the work we love.
I know it sounds trite, but it isn’t you, it is us. We must be true to ourselves and move where we are the captains of our destiny. We are moving to where we own our property and can truly have control over our future, like we did when Great, great grandpa and his son got involved in this business! We survived many projects over the years, from 1978 moving from Richards Street to make way for Crossroads Mall.
To 1989 closing our parking to enable Inn at Temple Square work, to Early 2000’s surviving a major construction project all around us. We are built for survival, and we will take that fighting spirit to Murray on the Corner of 6100 South and State, across the street from the top performing mall in the state.
We do feel we’ve been handed a lemon, but if we’ve learned anything in 119 years of running a family business, it’s that lemons can be made into delicious lemonade. We are incredible at making lemonade and look forward to serving you some in Murray, just 11 miles down the street right on State Street!

Moving Dates and Details
Although it's a massive change, we are really excited about our future location. In 2020 we purchased a building in Murray - across the street from Fashion Place Mall where our Tom Nox store has been. On May 6th, we will be moving our entire UWM operations to this building and convert it from our Tom Nox Shop into our UWM Flagship store! If you haven’t been to the Murray shop, it’s stunning and when we move will have the same UWM staff, tailors, barbershop and products you already know and love!
We could not possibly do this without the love and support of our faithful customers. We are so grateful for the years that you have shopped with us and how dedicated you have been to our little shop!
